Restaurant Remodeling: Burger King Renovation “Dun Rite”

Restaurant Name: Burger King

Project location: Lorton, Virginia

Image of BK ExteriorThis particular restaurant remodeling project was a challenge due to the time line. We were asked to remodel the entire restaurant lobby, 2 bathrooms, replace the front counter, and install a new furniture package in 7 days. Originally the store agreed to close for the week, however after day 1 they asked us to keep the drive-thru window open during the project to reduce lost sales to the store therefore adding an additional challenge we were not expecting.

We spent some time before our start date to organize the materials and work on a comprehensive schedule. Materials arrived to our shop days before the job and those materials were loaded into our box truck and into our trailers poised to be shipped to the store on our start date. The job had additional challenges as the store was located in a strip mall. Space and parking became an issue immediately. Much of our loading and unloading for the restaurant remodeling had to be done after hours.

As the project went on we had 2 crews working 12 hour shifts. The shifts ran from 7am to 7pm during the day, and 7pm to 7am during the night. The crew supervisors stayed an additional hour longer each shift to communicate where they were at with the restaurant maintenance project and what they needed from the their partner crew to continue our momentum.

Restaurant Maintenance Punch-List

When it was all said and done we completed the remodeling job an entire day ahead of schedule. In 6 days we accomplished the following:

  1. New tile floors in lobby, bathrooms
  2. New wall finishes
  3. Cultured stone work at front counter
  4. new solid surface front counter (remove and reinstall registers and smoothie station)
  5. New core drilled furniture package (with pictures)
  6. New hanging soffit and drink station table (remove and replace drink machine)
  7. All new fixtures in restrooms
  8. All new light fixtures in lobby
  9. New doors in lobby and restrooms (3)
  10. New paint in lobby including door frames
  11. Replace drop ceiling over front service area (250 Sq Feet) added after completion

Our client managed to salvage 70% of their sales that week in the drive thru and were extremely pleased with the restaurant remodeling, so much so they paid the invoice prior to its terms.
